Q.What is a Live DVD?
Asked by:M. Manohar on 28/01/2019
Ans#1
A Live CD/ DVD or Live Disk contains a bootable operating system, the core program of any computer, which is designed to run all your programs and manage all your hardware and software.
Live CDs/ DVDs have the ability to run a complete modern OS on a computer even without secondary storage, such as Hard Disk Drive. The CD/ DVD directly runs the OS and other applications from the DVD drive itself. Thus, a live disk allows some one to try the OS before installing or erasing any thing on his/ her current system. Such Disks are used for testing hardware functionalities, before actual installation. To run a Live DVD, you need to boot your computer using the disk in the ROM Drive.

Q.Whether Nanotubes can be used for extracting drinking water from sea?
Asked by:Raginee on 29/08/2017
Ans#1 Scientists, including those from Northeastern University and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) both in the U.S.A. have developed carbon nanotube pores that can exclude salt from seawater.
They have found that water permeability in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with diameters of 0.8 nanometre significantly exceeds that of wider carbon nanotubes. The super smooth inner surface of the nanotube is responsible for their remarkably high water permeability, while the tiny pore size blocks larger salt ions. The nanotubes, hollow structures made of carbon atoms in a unique arrangement, are more than 50,000 times thinner than a human hair.

Q.Whether Mars can ever regain its atmosphere?
Asked by:Raginee on 07/03/2017
Ans#1

NASA Scientist after taking a clue from miniature magnetosphere research project have come out with findings that a giant magnetic shield into space to protect Mars from solar winds could restore the Red Planet's atmosphere, and terraform the Martian environment thus resulting in liquid water flowing once again. As per the research findings published in Planetary Science Vision 2050 Workshop, the current research being conducted to protect astronauts and spacecraft from cosmic radiation can very well be adopted in future, although today it looks like fanciful idea, on a larger scale to shield Mars.

There could be couple of challenges in the approach. Not only launching of the magnetic shield may be required but additionally, there would be a need to modify the direction of the magnetic field so that it always pushes the solar wind away.

The magnetic filed shall make the atmosphere becomes thicker and according the the team estimates Mars's climate would become around 4 degrees Celsius (7.2 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer, which would be enough to melt carbon dioxide ice over the Red Planet's Northern Polar-cap. If this happened, the carbon in the atmosphere would help to trap heat like it does on Earth thus triggering a greenhouse effect that could melt Mars's water ice, giving the Red Planet back its liquid water in the form of flowing rivers and oceans.

If all of this were to occur as the team anticipates – and admittedly, that's a pretty fantastical if – it's possible that, within the space of a couple of generations, Mars could regain some of its lost Earth-like habitabilities.
